Finding the Spark: Rebalancing of Elements
Trying to start a fire with a wet match in a cold windstorm is challenging. Remember when I mentioned February’s forecast lacked fire? Well, finding joy and a sense of playful purpose will get easier on March 9th. That’s when Mercury moves into Aries, becoming the first inner planet in fire since January’s end. This shift will rebalance elements in the sky, although most planets will remain clustered in Aquarius and Pisces for the month. Focus on those areas of your chart to see which topics will light up.
Good Vibes Only: Venus and Jupiter in Mutual Reception + Protected by Term
When I was young, I adored “The Parent Trap,” where twins switch places and use their intimate knowledge to reunite their parents. They gave each other the run down of routines, behaviors, and expectations. Together, they were unstoppable. When planets are in mutual reception, two planets are supporting each other to solve problems and forward their agendas just like the twins. In March, Jupiter and Venus, the benefic planets, will do just that! Are you ready for even better news? They will both be dignified and protected, acting in their own terms from March 16th to 21st. This is like having a shield of protection and immunity that allows them to act with purpose and dignity. This brings an extra dose of luck to matters like groups, finances, travel, and friendships. Use these 5 days to plan and progress topics related to Taurus and Pisces in your birth chart.
Eclipse Season: Redefining Relationships + Embracing Independence
During the spring eclipse season of 2024, big changes are happening in the sky. With the South Node in Libra and the North Node in Aries, it’s time for you to think about your relationships and how you stand up for yourself. This series challenges the assumptions you have about yourself and others. The Aries/Libra eclipses that started last April ask you to let go of old relationship habits and become more independent. At the same time, the North Node is urging you to be brave and true to yourself. It’s important to find a balance between connecting with others and following your own path. What’s interesting about this eclipse series is that the full moon on March 25th is the only one that’s a lunar eclipse – all the others are new moons signifying beginnings opposed to endings. This marks a time to acknowledge what you’ve outgrown in your relationships. It’s a moment where you might realize that things have changed, and a new phase in your relationships has begun. This might bring up feelings of grief or relief for some. Embrace these changes by understanding your limits and setting boundaries as you grow.
Lunar vs. Solar Traditions: Easter vs. Christmas
Have you always wondered why Easter Sunday changes every year? I’ll give you a hint: it’s a holiday governed by the Moon. Christmas never changes its date as the holiday is tied to the sun. But the moon governs Easter, whose cycle changes every 28 days. In 325 AD, the Council of Nicea said Easter must happen the first Sunday after the first full moon of spring. So, let’s use 2024 as an example: Equinox arrives on March 19th when the Sun ingresses into Aries. The first full moon of spring happens on March 25th. The first Sunday after that full moon is March 31st. The symbology is incredible. Full moons represent the apex of the story which, for many Christians, Christ’s resurrection is the pinnacle of faith. Without His sacrifice, there could be no redemption for all of humanity. It’s fascinating to see how astrology and religion remain closely intertwined, even after centuries.
Key Dates of the Month:
March 1: Sun sextiles Jupiter. Big plans and dreams take the stage today. Jupiter adds a sense of optimism about what you can accomplish and where you can shine. This is absolutely the day to search for your joy and reconnect to the “why” behind your goals. Once there is a better understanding of the motivation, commitment gets renewed.
March 3: Venus squares Uranus. Tension might be just below the surface in your relationship right now. Today marks a nudge from the skies to adjust and resolve assumptions in your relationships. This is an invitation to do something different and resolve the value differences. The Moon in Sagittarius could lead to some feelings of wanting to prove you are right; instead, take a break and give it some time if things feel overwhelming.
March 4: Mercury sextiles Uranus. Approach problems with curiosity. Questions can open others into new ways of thinking and you could find hidden support for your platform.
March 8: Mercury conjoins Neptune. Intuition is heightened today. With this aspect happening in water, it’s a good idea to listen and be receptive to all the information. Be careful about deception today as well. Embellishment of the truth or saying more than you intended can happen today. Boundaries are not the strongest with this aspect and with the Moon close to Venus, you could just want to belong and not rock the boat. A positive manifestation of today would be taking in an art lecture or seeing a creative film this evening with friends.
March 9: Mars squares Uranus + Sun sextiles Uranus + Mercury ingresses into Aries. This is an interesting day as the Moon will be approaching Saturn this morning, making everyone feel a bit more cautious and serious. However, the other planets are urging you to take action. There can be some false starts, but also some creative genius moments. With Mercury in his last degrees of Pisces, there can be a burst of energy completing projects that began a couple of weeks ago. Tonight, Mercury will ingress into Aries, bringing a fresh perspective and introducing fire back into the celestial mix. This is going to give everyone some extra pep in their step that has been missing since late January.
March 10/Daylight Savings Begins: New Moon in Pisces + Mercury sextiles Pluto. This moon asks everyone to surrender and become more aware of what is in their subconscious. It’s a good day for imagining what is possible and then realizing what is probable with this lunation happening between Neptune and Saturn. While Neptune blurs the boundaries, Saturn asks you to focus on reality. Jupiter in Taurus rules this lunation. It strongly encourages you to assess and employ your resources wisely for long-term plans. With Mercury sextiling Pluto, it lends energy into breaking down problems into smaller, manageable tasks.
March 11: Venus ingresses into Pisces. When Venus, the planet of love, moves into her exalted sign of Pisces, she feels confident in her value and isn’t afraid to demand attention. Despite this, she also works hard to give back to others. Pisces is known for its idealism, compassion, and empathy, making it an ideal time to use your talents to connect with others for collective benefits. This is perfect for gala season when like-minded people come together to support good causes. Venus in Pisces blushes when her generosity gets noticed, yet she lavishes others with her time and affection. This transit prompts a journey into beauty and an understanding of how everything is interconnected. It’s a time to nurture relationships with mutual affection. Over the next five weeks, artistic expression, music, fundraising events, and acts of kindness receive extra support.
March 17/St. Patrick’s Day: Sun cazimi Neptune. Stick with friends today if you are going out on the town. The Moon’s trine with Venus will bring a sense of camaraderie and belonging, and the heart of the Sun will purify Neptune’s essence. Neptune can show compassion and artistic expression, but also escapism and addictions. On a day that revels in celebration and luck o’ the Irish, the alcohol may have a stronger effect on you than you realize. Confusion about personal boundaries could pop up today. If you are more of a spiritual person, today could lend itself to deepening rituals that heighten your practice.
March 18: Mercury conjoins North Node + Mercury enters its shadow. You may feel the urge to speak up and assert yourself more today. The planet of communication aligns with the North Node, bringing a bold style of standing up for your individual preferences. Mercury will enter his shadow for the upcoming retrograde which can bring about misunderstandings, so be sure the receiving end heard your intended message.
March 19/Spring Equinox: Sun ingresses into Aries. The Sun in Aries brings pioneering and action to the helm. These individuals live up to the Nike motto, “Just Do It.” Mars rules this sign and the Sun has his exaltation. Ego and drive take the reins for these natives. They aren’t afraid to initiate and can be impatient with others. While their fearlessness is inspiring, they can also be headstrong and not want to listen to other’s points of views especially if it gets in their way. They are natural competitors and are courageous when the odds seem against them. During this month, look to this energy for new passions, starting projects, and facing problems head on.
March 21: Sun sextiles Pluto + Venus conjoins Saturn. Relationships and personal power get the spotlight today. You may feel the need to assess commitments and realize where you are helping or hindering the relationship. It’s a time to be authentic and honest.
March 22: Mars ingresses into Pisces. It’s time for your actions to blend with your intuition and empathy. The planet of energy and drive takes on a more subtle approach in Pisces. Mars in Pisces invites you to grasp the “why,” propelling you forward with drive by fostering connections that align with your goals. Use the next 6 weeks to creatively visualize your goals and how you want to achieve them.
March 24/Palm Sunday: Venus sextiles Jupiter. This is one of my favorite days of the year. The benefic planets are in mutual reception and in a favorable aspect to one another. It is a perfect day to nurture relationships, pursue creative projects, or connect with others on financial aspirations. Indulge in a date night if you can with small luxurious touches that celebrate what makes your connection unique. It’s an ideal time to invest in each other. With the Moon moving into Libra this afternoon, it adds a romantic touch.
March 25: Lunar Eclipse in Libra. Eclipses involving the south node are times of release and letting go. They can also play a larger role for those who have a personal planet near the eclipse degree (5 Libra) or if you are in a Leo or Cancer profected year. This lunation may highlight a time to release old ways of functioning around relationships. Recognizing that a connection has shifted into a new phase can be healing. With Saturn so close to Venus, it could be realizing that time and maturity have aged you out of a dynamic. For example, understanding that an aging parent needs more care or that your teen needs more space can alter interactions. Independence can become a factor. Acknowledging the reality of the situation can bring a sense of resolution and pave the way to new beginnings.
March 28: Venus sextiles Uranus. The ah-has of the lunar eclipse on Monday align into solutions with others. Resolutions are favored and optimism returns with the Moon opposing Jupiter. This is an exciting day for innovating relationships and patterns of connecting. It’s a great day for mingling and saying yes to meeting others.
March 31/Easter: Moon in Sagittarius. Faith and the fanciful reign supreme today as the Moon transits the sign of the archer. On a religious holiday, having the Moon led by a sign known for its personal beliefs and optimism is perfect symbolism. It should be a fun day for the little ones, as the Moon squares Neptune and Venus where what is real and what is pretend blend. Watch out for over indulgence or excess.
